After completing a distinguished career in the British Army’s Royal Military Police, Charlie elected to establish his academic credentials by reading for an MSc in Security Management with the University of Leicester, and then Terrorism Studies with St Andrews University. As an academic, in 2015 he wrote the MSc in International Security and Risk Management for the University of South Wales, where he was the Programme Lead Tutor.

Charlie has developed and taught on a number of vocational Security and Risk Management Training Courses on a global platform. He has also carried out security risk assessments and security surveys for numerous clients on a global scale.

Charlie is a Chartered Security Professional (CSyP), and he sits on the Selection Board for CSyP candidates. He is also Co-Chairman of the Security Education and Training Specialist Interest Group with The Security Institute.

In 2020 his book (Professional Security Management: A strategic guide) was published by Routledge, and his second book (The Risk Handbook) is currently with the same publishers awaiting scrutiny.

Charlie joins Optimal Risk Training as the Learning & Development lead, responsible for enhancing the groups offering in professional development for the Security sector. Building on the specialist courses already on offer, Charlie is charged with creating engaging content that will enhance career prospects for security professionals.
